Today I have swatches for 1850 Artisan Polish‘s upcoming collection, based on Doctor Who! I’m not personally a fan of Doctor Who, but this collection is absolutely incredible. Keep reading for all of my swatches and reviews of these beautiful polishes! This collection will release on the 1850 website on Saturday, August 18th.
First up is an out-of-this world holographic, “She’s the Doctor”.
She’s the Doctor is a dark blue linear holographic that is a nod to the Doctor’s favorite mode of transportation.
This holographic is beautiful inside, but blinding in the sun! She’s the Doctor was opaque in two coats of polish. The formula was fantastic and I had no problems with staining with this shade.
Up next is “Oh, Brilliant”.
Oh Brilliant is a holographic multichrome that shifts between purple, pink, and gold with green around the edges. This shade was opaque in two coats of polish for me.
I can even spot a rose-gold toned shift in this beautiful shade!
Here are some shots of the multichrome effect in natural, indirect light.
In direct sunlight, a beautiful scattered holographic sprinkling is noticeable against the primarily purple base.
“Would You Be My New Best Friends?” is has a medium purple jelly base with multichrome flakies, plus copper shimmer and aurora pigments.
I used three coats of polish for my swatches. This shade starts out sheer on the first coat but does build up really nicely. The flakies spread very easily and evenly across the nail.
Here are some shots of this shade in natural, indirect lighting, where you can really see those amazing flakies!
Would You Be My New Best Friends? is beautiful in the sun!
The Key to the Universe is a dusty multichrome that shifts between mauve and rose with gold around the edges plus gold microflakes and a sprinkling of holographic microflakes.
This shade was opaque in two coats of polish and had a formula that was very easy to work with.
Here’s a shot of this shade in natural, indirect sunlight.

This is Gonna Be Fun is a scattered silver holographic that leans periwinkle around the edges with purple to red shifting shimmer.
I used three coats of polish to reach a fully opaque finish. This polish would also make a fantastic topper!
In indirect light, the pink shimmer is stunning!
The holographic effect is beautiful in direct sunlight.
Finally, we have my absolute favorite shade of this collection, an incredibly thermal packed with flakies and intense shimmer. “Regenerate” was opaque in two coats of polish and the flakies spread easily across the nail.
Regenerate is a white with purple/fuchsia shifting flakies in its warm state.
Regenerate is a blue to purple shifting duochrome with coordinating flakies in its cold state.
In this side-by-side comparison, you get a great view of the pink shimmer at one angle and the blue shimmer at another angle!
Here’s a glimpse of the flakies in natural, indirect lighting.
Here are some shots of Regenerate in its warm state in direct sunlight; the shimmer is so beautiful in the sun!
