I can’t believe I’m already posting for the first batch of shades for Polish Pickup of 2019! It’s crazy how fast this year has flown by.
New to Polish Pickup? Every month, PPU has a theme voted on by fans. Tons of indie makers then create a polish inspired by that theme. You can order as many shades from any maker participating that month for a flat rate of $3 shipping in the U.S. You can learn more about PPU on their website here! This month’s theme is “mythology”, and this shade will be available from January 4-7th on the Polish Pickup website.
First up is a shimmering beauty from Ethereal Lacquer called “Grímnismál”. This shade is described as a smoky amethyst with red to green shifting shimmer. This polish was inspired by Huginn and Muninn and does not have a cap. I found this shade to be opaque in 3 thin coats and it had beautiful application. The red to green shift is absolutely phenomenal!
Next up is a beautiful pale pink from Cameo Colours, “Sisters of the Sky”, inspired by the Pleiades, the daughters of the titan Atlas. Sisters of the sky is a pinky-mauve nude crelly full of blue to indigo to purple shifting shimmer, purple/blue iridescent microglitters, blue/violet/copper ultrachrome flakes, and copper and holographic microflakes. Sisters of the Sky will have a cap of 100 bottles. This shade had a wonderful application and is opaque in 2-3 coats of polish.
Chirality was inspired by Ragnarök from Norse mythology to create “Ragnarök You Like a Hurricane”. This shade has no cap and has an inky black jelly base with holographic microglitters and various sizes of blood red glitters. I used 2 coats of polish for these swatches, but you can definitely build this shade up for a more opaque black base. I also found that the glitters spread very easily across the nail.
Chirality has a new product available through the Indie Pickup website also from January 4th-7th. This Soften Your Tips nourishing cuticle oil is called “Ragnarök’d”. The scent is described as a sweet blend of creamy vanilla, luxurious buttercream, with accents of cinnamon sugar and strawberries. I personally LOVED the applicator of this tube of cuticle oil because it is so easy to pop off the cap and apply the oil directly to your cuticles with the doe-foot applicator without making a mess. This oil will have a cap of 50.
1850 Artisan Polish is joining Polish Pickup for the first time this January! I’m so excited to finally see them at PPU and start out with a bang with the beautiful “Orion’s Belt”, inspired by the constellation of Orion the Hunter. Orion’s Belt has a cap of 150 bottles and is described as a denim blue base with copper shimmer, linear holo, holo microflakes, and a variety of aurora shimmers. This shade is opaque in 2-3 coats of polish with a smooth and creamy formula. I love the subtle shift of red to green shimmer in this shade!
